spread love with smiles

A small act of love does not necessarily need time or money.  A simple smile to a stranger that is passing you on the way to work, whether walking or in your car, could change the person's day! The smile might say to the person: you are noticed and worth it to smile at, to give the smile makes me feel that I did something to brighten up the person's day, and this brightens up my day. If they do not smile back it does not matter, because it makes me feel better to spread love through smiles.

At the farmer's market some time ago I told this young man that he has a beautiful smile. He was very shy at first and then he just kept on smiling. It makes me feel so much better to smile at people. Why not try for one day to smile at as many people as you can?

Thanx to willing students

The students of TUT (Tshwane University of Technology) and some of their lecturers all made some small artworks that they donated for an exhibition in my area. At the exhibition all the artworks were for sale for R100 each. The money that was collected went to help those students who cannot afford to pay for their own studies. What was awesome for me was to see how many art works were done by the students.  Actually, there were too many to be able to really look and appreciate all of them.  To all the students who went through the trouble to produce these excellent artworks, a big thank you!

food for the less fortunate

Continuing on the subject of giving food to beggars:

A friend recently told me that it is better to give food to the people busy working on our streets. These people are in fact trying to do some work, and not just begging, which is better for society, psychologically for themselves. So, shortly after, I stopped to give food to a person who was busy handing out pamphlets at the robot. He, in turn, gave me a surprised but huge smile.

Being selfless

Recently, on my way to a shop, I noticed a woman struggling to walk across the parking lot. A little while later, after I had finished doing my shopping and was standing in the queue at the checkout counters, I saw the very same woman near the front of the line, with a few items in her shopping trolley. Behind her was a man with a single cooldrink. The lady then turned to the man, and asked him if he would like to go ahead of her, as he had only one item! I found myself deeply moved by her selflessness. After we had paid for our goods, I talked to her a little, and thanked her for her kindness.

Giving food to beggars

As part of kindspring.org's "21 day challenge", I contributed the following:

hi,

I have been following daily good and kind spring for some time now. I do special things for people as far as I can. Now with kind spring I get a lot of new ideas of new things that i can do. I live in South Africa. Here there is a lot of beggars in the street. I do not think begging is a good thing but then I do feel guilty for not giving. So for some time now I thought of buyng tinned beans and mealie meal that I can leave in my car and hand out when I see a beggar.

Today I went out to buy this and it is in my car to hand out when I see a beggar. My own workers is also getting a big bag of maelie meal today. thank you for being here to inspire me to do more good. -
